How to convert USDT to PKR in Pakistan

Most people in Pakistan turn USDT into rupees by selling it on a peer-to-peer (P2P) marketplace, where the buyer sends rupees to your bank account or mobile wallet. The market reference today is Rs 278.08 per USDT. Here is how the process works, what it costs and how to stay safe.

The short version

  1. Move your USDT to an exchange account that has a P2P marketplace, using the correct network.
  2. Create a sell offer, or pick a buyer's offer, with PKR and your payment method (bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa).
  3. The platform locks your USDT in escrow.
  4. The buyer sends rupees to your account. Check that the money has actually arrived, from an account in the buyer's verified name.
  5. Only then release the USDT from escrow.

How P2P escrow protects both sides

In a P2P trade, the platform does not buy your USDT. It holds your USDT while a buyer pays you directly. If the buyer never pays, the order is cancelled and the USDT returns to you. If there is a dispute, the platform's support team looks at the evidence. Escrow only protects you while you keep the whole trade on the platform: never agree to move the deal to WhatsApp or another app.

Bank transfer vs JazzCash vs Easypaisa

MethodGood forWatch out for
Bank transfer (IBFT / Raast)Larger amounts; clear recordsYour bank may ask about repeated transfers from strangers; keep trade records ready
JazzCashSmall, quick amountsWallet transaction and balance limits depend on your account level
EasypaisaSmall, quick amountsSame limits issue; check them in the app before trading

Offers are usually priced differently for each payment method, so compare the rate as well as the convenience.

What it costs

  • P2P spread. Buyers pay a little less than sellers ask. When you sell, you usually get a rate below the P2P selling price you see advertised.
  • Network fee to move USDT to the exchange. TRC-20 and BEP-20 transfers are usually far cheaper than ERC-20. See USDT network fees.
  • Platform fee. Some platforms charge makers or takers on P2P; many do not. Check before you trade.

Worked example: a freelancer paid 500 USDT

At the market rate, 500 USDT is worth Rs 139,040.00. Suppose the best buyer offers 1% below market. You would receive about 1% less than that figure, before any network fee for moving the USDT. Use the P2P premium calculator with the real offer to see the exact rupee difference.

Safety checklist

  • Check the money in your own banking or wallet app. Ignore screenshots and "payment sent" messages.
  • The sender's name must match the buyer's verified name on the platform. Third-party payments are a common fraud pattern.
  • Do not accept offers far above the market; they are often linked to fraud and can lead to frozen accounts.
  • Never share your exchange password, 2FA codes or seed phrase.
  • Keep a record of each trade: date, USDT amount, rupee amount, buyer ID.

Rules to keep in mind

Pakistan's Virtual Assets Act 2026 created PVARA to license crypto businesses. As of mid-2026, reporting said no exchange had yet received a full operating licence. Check the current position in our guides on crypto rules in Pakistan and Binance's status in Pakistan.

If you are a freelancer, formal channels such as bank remittances or payment platforms are counted as foreign exchange earnings and leave a clear record for tax and banking purposes.
